Anicet Lavodrama was born in Bangui, Central African Republic, into a family where integral academic training was a priority.
He was educated and raised by his father, politician, ambassador (in Zaire, Côte d’Ivoire, Sweden, Denmark and Norway), diplomat, and his mother, a business woman in agriculture. The education of their children was the priority. Anicet’s passion for medicine and health was inspired by his father’s extensive home library books and encyclopedias collections, and by his older sister who is a pediatrician).
This passion for learning led him to Houston Baptist University (now Houston Christian University) in Taxas in the United States, where he earned bachelor's degrees in Finance and Business Management and competed in the NCAA. He was drafted second overall by the Los Angeles Clippers (NBA) in 1985. The international and cultural experience in Europe (Spain) offered him an ideal environment to develop his personal and professional career more adapted to his personal values and vision. He also left a remarkable mark with his performance at the Olympic Games in Seoul (South Korea) in 1988 with the African champion team, the Central African Republic.
Professional Basketball Career
Anicet Lavodrama left an indelible mark on Spanish basketball, especially during his nine years at OAR Ferrol, where he made history alongside teammates such as Manuel Aller, Miguel Loureiro, Nate Davis and Ricardo Aldrey. Subsequently, he also played for CB Valladolid and Joventut Badalona, cementing his reputation as an elite competitor. His experience in basketball was not limited to the field; he also worked as Deputy General Manager and Media officer of CB Valladolid to later work in management positions at FIBA, then a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers staff and in a Madrid multinational representation and marketing agency.
Transition to Management and Training
With an international education and perspective, together with a political awareness of responsibility and competitive positioning of the community, after retiring from professional basketball, Anicet Lavodrama channeled his wealth of experience in sport and business management towards training and consulting for multinational business ventures.
He founded a company dedicated to the activation of conventional and non-conventional projects and initiatives. With its focus on excellence and continuous improvement, Anicet has become a benchmark in the mentoring of athletes and other professionals.
